Twelve - Definitely not addicting (Andrea, Andrea and Daniel)
The movie Twelve is a dramatic thriller about youth, drugs and sex in upper class New York City. The main character is Michael aka. White Mike, a pot dealer, and the supplier to all the rich high-class teens around town. He is a wealthy teenager, who struggles to avoid his life slowly spiraling out of control. He has lost his mom to cancer and throughout the movie his life deteriorates, as he both looses his cousin and his best friend gets arrested for alleged murder.
The movie takes place over the course of three days in New York City. The main plot in the story is that White Mike is the link between the teens in the story and the drugs they take. A new drug named Twelve is becoming increasingly popular, and White Mikes supplier Lionel is the seller of this new drug. The story builds up towards the climax, where all the characters from the story meet at the most popular girl Sara Ludlow’s birthday party, where truths are revealed and revenge is taken.
The overuse of voice-over throughout the movie makes it hard to rate the actors performances. We never get to the bottom of the characters inner psyche, as everyone except White Mike is only superficially introduced.
Twelve is a poor attempt to recreate the excellence of the novel. It is clumsy, badly filmed and the choice of using a voice-over instead of letting the characters and story speak for itself, does that you as a viewer never get emotionally or touched by the otherwise amazing story the novel is. Our high expectations were definitely not fulfilled, and therefore we can only give this movie a 2/6 rating.

TWELVE – A TINY BIT TOO MUCH
*** _ _ _
So today I went and saw this new movie, Twelve. It is based upon a book by the same name, written by Nick McDonell and is about a couple of troubled teenagers living in New York City. The movie was very dramatic, of course, and starred some of our greatest actors such as 50 Cent, Emma Roberts and Chace Crawford (better known for his role as “Nate” in Gossip Girl).
In the movie we meet the young White Mike, who is very clever but has decided on a career as a drug dealer, even though he has the opportunity to start at Harvard. He seems to know everybody in the 21st century of New York City - especially (which is the case in the movie) when New York’s richest teenagers are coming home from boarding school. White Mike is the link between the different teenagers of New York City, and through him we experience their problems and see all the different sides of New York City, the loneliness, the wealth and the drugs.
Chace Crawford has, in his interpretation of the character, caught the very essence of White Mike. Even though his play was only acceptable, he did fit well as a lonely drug dealer. The other characters were neither convincing nor notable. In the end, the instructor had of course remembered the most important points of the book, but it was definitely not a movie to be remembered among the greatest. Of course there was a fine lesson in the end, – which in other ways was clichéd and a bit strange – where we are told that you “have to live your life, the best way you can”.
Personally, I would not recommend this movie in special – and you should definitely make sure to read the book, before you watch the movie. As a conclusion, it is not an extraordinary movie and does not serve the book justice.

Twelve (*_ _ _ _ _)
Twelve is a typical hollywood teenage drama that describes a specific youth culture among the upper east side kids in New York.
The movie deals with relationships between young kids.
A set up that has been seen before, and therefore there are no surprises or reflections.
The young people are, most of them, from rich families and they are often left to themselves with unlimited money from their parents.
We follow White Mike, who is a drug dealer. White Mike is the connection between the other characters in the film.
The actors are bad casted. Within that the book includes a lot of flat personalities, so does the film – just in a much more remarkable way. The characters doesn't add any contents, so the film is just long and boring – therefor it is also a hard task for the actors.
The film is very superficial and the characters did not progress.
One of the best things in the movie is the well played parts that show the conflict between the brothers Claude and Chris. They have a very complex brotherhood.
We will raide the movie 1 star, it was very bad.
Sophie, Victor & Rebecca.
Twelve review by Maya, Oskar and Sebastian
Twelve is a movie about young living their lives in a high upper class society in New York City.
It tells us a story about the lives of young people living their normal vacation life’s with party’s, drugs, alcohol and sex. It’s directed by Joel Schumacher, and based on the popular novelle by the same name Twelve.
I have read the book myself and i can much more recommend the book to the film.
A plot of the movie:
The movie takes place in the upper class environment in New York City. We follow a group of young people's daily life in the city. Even though they live very wealthy in the upper east side of Manhattan, they still deal with a bunch of problems. Their parents are never home and never take care of them since they work all the time which leaves a lot of time to them self. Their daily life involves a lot drugs and partying. The main character is White Mike which is played by Chace Crawford.
The actors
When you are looking at the actors you will not find anyone you know except the famous gangster rapper 50-cent, who plays the drugdealer Lionel.
White Mike, the maincharacter is played by Chace Crawford. He does a okay job when playing White Mike, but it is nothing special.
Billy Magnussen does a very good job when playing the bigbrother of Chris, Claude.
He give the character this insane personality that matches Claudes personality in the book.
Billy Magnussen's role as Claude is remarkable.
Rory Culkin plays Chris and plays him good. He makes you feel a bit sorry for Chris in a good way.
The other actors perfomances is nothing special, and many of the are slightly poor.
The film was infact alright. It had a okay story(based on the book) and a few good actors. The movie had some good moments ex. Hunter talking to his dad over the phone, or Sara convincing Chris to throw a party at his house.
But of most of the characters were not really well played and there were a lot of information who were irrelevant to the story.
Theme and moral:
The moral of this movies is that money and other good stuff that everyone dreams about having isn't always the way to living a good life and being happy. Just like these people actually have everything to living a "good life", still they're not happy and starts living the crazy life.
Recommendet for:
people who like movies about drugs and youth.
The movies has a very loose red thread and the plot is weak, so if you like movies with deep plots and red threads this movie is not for you.
In my eyes this movie was nothing special, actually it was pretty bad.
I would rate it 2,5 out of 6.

Review: Twelve
It felt like Twelve hours of horror!
By August and Andreas
We have seen the movie Twelve, and would like to review it.
It is an adaption of the book, of the same name, which was written by Nick McDonell.
Genre-wise it is a dramatic thriller, trying to portray the new American generation-X.
The history takes place in an upper class New York environment, and depicts the upper class youth.
The main characters of the movie are, White Mike (Chace Crawford), the nietzschian intellectual, and drug dealer, who does not do drugs Hunter (Philip Ettinger) who is White Mike’s old classmate, and best friend since they started school, and Jessica (Emily Meade), an “A+-only” girl, with a lust for drugs.
The story showcases the youth in the upper class New York City. Throughout the movie, we see different characters, each with their own issues, although they all seem to have parental neglect in common.
For most of the movie we follow White Mike, as he makes his deliveries to all the big parties, around town, which there are a lot of, as all the private school kids are home on a school break.
All the actors did a pretty bad job. Except for 50 Cent, who is just pretty awesome in general. Also Claude (Billy Magnussen), who had some golden moments and quotes throughout the film. But that was more because of the character, than the actor himself.
Overall the movie was pretty shitty. A couple of characters had some funny moments, but you only laughed, cause you had nothing else to care about in the movie, and because the dialogue was written and performed as badly as it was.
For example, when Chris tells his brother Claude, that a girl named Sarah Ludlow, is coming over, and he replies, “Ludlow? Tap that fine pussy bro!”
All the characters were overacted to the point of ridicule, and this thing, were you see memories and thoughts, on a white background, just did not work.
We really did not learn anything, except for the usual, “drugs are bad, mkay”. The movie also told us, that you should live your life to the fullest, but it was executed in such a way, you really did not care about it.
We think that the movie is primarily aimed towards teenagers, but we would not recommend it to any living being. Except for Crabpeople (pun intended).
On a scale from 1-10, we would give the movie 2, based purely on the fact that no one threw up, due to its horrible nature, during the course of it.

Twelve
We have seen the movie 'Twelve', which is based on the novel by Nick McDonell. It centers about the troubled teenagers living on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.
17 year old White Mike (Chase Crawford) lost his mother to cancer, and is taking a year off from school, living off the money he earns from dealing drugs to the his upper class ex class mates. We follow different characters connected to White Mike, for instance his cousin Charlie, his former best friend Hunter, his childhood friend Molly (Emma Roberts), the womanizing model Tobias, the two brothers Chris and Claude, the hot popular girl Sara Ludlow and Jessica, who is a regular costumer of White Mike. Charlie also works as drug dealer for the cynical dealer Lionel, played by 50 Cent. As the story evolves, we follow the characters' lives, involving parties, sex, alcohol, parental neglect, intrigues, violence and the new alluring drug Twelve.
All of the actors are rather poorly described, as we don't really get to know their feelings or thoughts - something the book captures in a much better way. The voice over effect doesn't really work and it would have been a lot more trustworthy, to have used White Mike's own voice.
The movie tells us something about the variety of New York - all the lost kids wander around, neglected and living off their parents' money. The restless kids radiate a feeling of ignorance and hopelessness towards their lives throughout the movie, something, that the drugs help them to deal with.

Save yourself, don't watch Twelve
by Malte, Max and Oscar
We have just watched the movie "Twelve" - it's teenage movie about drugs, youth, neglect, sex and the life of teenagers in NYC. The story takes place in New York City in different social classes. All the characters are teenagers and they all surfer from neglect in different ways. It's spring break and all the students are back in New York and they all have money to blow. There are lots of parties and this is where we meet the main character, White Mike. He is a drug dealer and everybody seems to know who he is. Suddenly out of the blue a murder is committed and that leads to a lot of chaos and events. But will they sort it out before the hot and popular Sara Ludlows birthday-party?
The acting is not particularly good but Chace Crawford (as White Mike) and Maxx Brawer (as Andrew) deliver a solid performance. None of the other actors fail, and it's funny to see 50cent in the role as a hardcore drug dealer - but let us say it this way: it is good that he is a rapper and not an actor.
The story line is okay - but it does not capture the essence of the book at all. It's disappointing to watch the movie when you have read the book which is a suttle masterpiece. The movie lacks intensity, feelings, emotions, rhythm and the poetic angle is not present. But worst of all, they change the theme of the original story - from the chaos theory and how everything affects everything to the cheap message: "live the best life you can"
We won't really recommend the movie to anybody, but if we have to point out a specific group who might have an interest, it would be pre-teenagers.
(PG-13)
The movie is like being told you can have all the ice cream you can eat, but actually you´re only allowed one. We give this movie: 1,5 out of 6 stars.

“Taking terrible to a new level - twelve”
Rating: *
Yesterday I went to see the movie “Twelve”. I had read the book, so I had high expectations. I had thought about how they would turn this masterpiece of a social realistic novel into a movie, without loosing the complexity of the many different characters. We are guided through the movie by a speaker, who introduces us to the social neglected teenagers on the upper part of Manhattan. White Mike, the main character of the movie works as a drug dealer.
His mother had died some years ago.
White Mike does not smoke or drink, still he surrounds himself with teenagers who do.
Each character contributes to giving us an impression of the society presented in the movie. Jessica, the good student, who has a drug problem. Hunter, whose father has high expectations for him to go to Harvard. Chris who tries to fit in, and who is his mother’s favourite compared to his older brother Claude, who has had a drug problem and now likes to play with weapons. Sarah Ludlow who is the hottest girl in school, and can manipulate any one she would like to, and Molly who has known White Mike since childhood. Molly is the only sensible character in the movie.
First, a lot of the actors were casted badly. They did not fit the description of the characters in the book. White Mike looked more like a shallow model, than a drug dealer with a troubled mind.
All in all, the movie did not succeed in giving us the complexity that we had in the book.

TWELVE
Movie Review "What a movie"
After reading the book “Twelve”, which i found really exciting, i decided to go watch the movie. It’s a crime film about sex, drugs, alcohol, crime and the youth in New York, and it portraits the difference between rich and poor. The story is told from several different persons point of view. The movie centers around the young drug dealer “White Mike”
The movie twelve takes place in manhattan during the spring, the film takes place during 3 days. The “main character” White Mike is a drug dealer in Manhattan and sell weed, etc. But not the new drug “twelve”. His cousin Charlie get addicted by the new drug twelve, and get in the trouble as he threat Lionel the twelve dealer.
Chace Crawford played a convincing character as the quiet and closed White Mike.
50 cent played Lionel and was the drug dealer selling to White mike. He did a great job playing the muscular and powerful drug dealer. He played with an extreme coolness and he acted as if he didn’t care about anything.
Emily Meade played jessica and did a great job when she pretended to be on the drug “twelve”
Billy Magnussen as Claude, was great actor, a bit crazy. He did a good job, being the buff and insane guy.
When White Mike ignore his girl; moral. Don’t lie to someone you care for. The truth will be revealed. I would like to recommend it to some people who thought about trying drugs. Cause this movie give some other perspectives you haven’t seen before.
The movie gets two out of five bananas.
Twelve Movie Review
Our opinon
The movie is about a teenage drug environment. The main character is called White Mike (Chase Crawford). He sells the drugs "twelve". It is a well told story, but the moral does not play a role untill the end, which makes it a bit clumsy. Some of the charactors are not well introduced, so you don't really get the point of them being in the movie. But it makes a good description of the environment the young people live in New York.
Summary of the story
Twelve is a movie about drug addiction, violence and Identity among teenagers from different social classes in New york, mostly the higher upper class though.
In the film we are introduced to White Mike, who is the main character. Since his mother died from breast cancer, he has been living with his father in a small apartment. They are both working to pay for his mother's cancer operations. He has been working full time as a drug dealer in New York, where the film takes place.White Mike appears intelligent and does not do drugs himself, further more he seems like the connection between the other characters appearing in the movie.
Most of his old classmates are from the upper class of New York, but White Mike does also have relations to the lower classes. While working as a drug dealer, he has to circulate in the different classes. Because of the many characters appering, the film takes narrative shifts.
White Mike is busy because all kids are home from school and has money to blow.
The actors/actress
The actors were not that good, but Claude who was the guy that killed a lot of the young people in the movie, he played very well. He did a good job as an actor, because when we wacht the movie, we think that he is scary.
White Mike doesn't look that much like a drug dealer. He is not a tough drug dealer, and he never did some drugs him selves.
Sara was suppoesed to be the most beautiful girl in the world, and the actress was a girly babe, who was a perfect match to the charactor.
Rating: Two out of five stars
The people who would watch this movie is probaly young people who might know some thing about the environment.
